MOSCOW, September 11. /TASS/. /TASS/. The nuclear submarine missile cruiser "Eagle" and the nuclear submarine strategic missile cruiser "Verkhoturye" went to the Barents Sea for Arctic exercises. This was reported to journalists on Saturday in the press service of the Northern Fleet.
"The crews of nuclear submarines of the Northern Fleet worked out the exit from their bases as part of an exercise with the Arctic expeditionary group. The nuclear submarine missile cruiser "Eagle" and the nuclear submarine strategic missile cruiser "Verkhoturye" have entered the Barents Sea, the press service said.
The navy reported that after entering the Barents Sea, the nuclear submarines began to perform their tasks according to the plan of the exercise with the Arctic expeditionary group.
The exercises are the final stage of the complex of measures for operational and combat training of the Northern Fleet forces this year. They are held at the landfills of the Murmansk Region, in the waters of the Barents and Kara Seas, the Laptev Sea near the Novosibirsk Islands, the Franz Josef Land archipelago. Up to 8 thousand military personnel, about 800 units of combat and special equipment, including about 40 tanks, 460 armored combat vehicles, up to 240 guns, mortars and multiple rocket launchers, about 120 aircraft, including unmanned aerial vehicles, up to 50 ships and support vessels, were involved in the exercises.
