It is possible to train drones to act independently in a critical situation, said Ivan Antsev, executive director of the enterprise
MOSCOW, September 7. /TASS/. The latest technologies allow us to train drones to make decisions independently and can find application in the event of a real military threat. This was announced in an interview with TASS by the executive director of the scientific and production enterprise "Radar mms" Ivan Antsev.
"I think that in a critical situation and the need to protect civilians from a real enemy, the legal aspect may take a back seat and such technology may find application, because the lives of our fellow citizens are a key priority," he said, answering the question about whether the time will soon come when drones can be trusted to make decisions independently.
According to him, at present it is possible to teach the car everything. "This is more of a legal and ethical issue than a technical one. Both a person and a machine can effectively distinguish between a potential threat or a specific enemy today. We can put almost everything that a person can do into a car. Practically - because a person has a more complex mindset, which includes a much larger layer of moral and ethical aspects that are not yet available for understanding machines, " Antsev explained.
He also noted that it is possible to put a prototype of emotion into a robotic system, but there is no certainty that it will not make the same mistakes as a person because of this. "In these conditions, both the machine and the person will retain the right to make a mistake. The only question is who will be responsible for it. This is the legal issue, " he said.
