Units of the Marine Corps and the Army Corps of the Black Sea Fleet will conduct live firing exercises in the Crimea on September 7, using ships. This was reported on September 4 in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"More than 500 servicemen and about 100 units of military and special equipment, as well as ships and support vessels of the Black Sea Fleet will take part in a bilateral tactical exercise with units of the Marine Corps and 22 army corps of the Black Sea Fleet at the Opuk training ground in the Republic of Crimea, "the message says.
During the exercises, marine units with the support of a naval group of the fleet will land on the coast of a conditional enemy with the help of BTR-82A armored personnel carriers. Coastal defense units will take part in the manners.
"At the final stage of the exercise, the units will perform live firing from all types of small arms, grenade launchers, weapons of combat vehicles at targets that simulate the equipment and manpower of a conditional enemy," the ministry added.
Before that, on September 3, the official representative of the North Atlantic Alliance, Oana Lungescu, called on Russia and Belarus to act predictably in connection with the Zapad-2021 exercises. According to her, all countries have the right to train their armed forces, but at the same time it is necessary to comply with transparency obligations.
The practical phase of the joint Belarusian-Russian strategic exercises "West-2021" will be held from September 10 to 16 at nine training grounds in Russia and five in Belarus. About 200 thousand people, more than 80 planes and helicopters, up to 760 units of military equipment are declared to take part in them. The forces of China, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Myanmar are declared military observers.
As it became known on September 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko will observe the joint strategic exercises of the armed forces of the two countries. The heads of state will be at the landfills of their countries.
