MOSCOW, 1 Sep-RIA Novosti. The promising Russian Yak-152 training aircraft can receive a domestic engine as an analogue of the German RED A03T V12, the general director of the Central Institute of Aviation Engine Engineering named after P. I. Baranov (part of the N.E. Zhukovsky Institute)told RIA Novosti in an interview Mikhail Gordin.
"Now we are also discussing the possibility of designing a new 500-horsepower diesel engine not to replace the RED engine, but as its analogue for the Yak-152 aircraft. The fact is that it is difficult to create a replacement, the main difficulty lies in the successful layout and use of components that are not produced in Russia. Whether it is necessary and possible to put another engine on the Yak-152 is a question for the developer of the aircraft and the state customer, and in any case this is the subject of a separate experimental design development, " he said.
The Yak-152 training aircraft is designed to provide initial pilot training.
Earlier, the general director of the corporation, Yuri Slyusar, said that the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) will begin delivering a new Yak-152 training aircraft to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in 2021.
