Specialists of the engineering troops of the Western Military District (ZVO) for the first time used massive mining during a special exercise in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
The installation of TM-62 anti-tank mines was carried out using modern GMZ tracked minelayers as part of a massive mobile detachment. Calculations of military engineers conducted the first training, which showed a positive result of the simultaneous operation of 12 minelayers.
Special attention was paid during the setting of minefields to joint work with tank and motorized rifle units of the Guards Combined Arms Army of the Western Military District on the battlefield to change the direction of movement of the troops of the conditional enemy and destroy the advancing reserves.
The GMZ tracked minelayer is capable of installing 208 mines with a mining step of 4.5 and 5 meters, up to 3 or 4 rows deep at a distance of more than a kilometer of the minefield.
In total, during the exercise, the GMZ minelayers installed more than 3 thousand anti-tank mines, more than 600 servicemen were involved, as well as about 200 units of weapons, military and special equipment, including BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles, T-72B3 tanks.
