Ten meteorological satellites are planned to be launched in Russia by 2027. This became known from the joint report of Roscosmos and Roshydromet, presented at the meeting of the coordination group on meteorological satellites CGMS.
At the moment, four Russian meteorological satellites are operating in orbit: two "Meteora-M" and the same number — "Electro-L". However, not all the functionality works on the devices, RIA Novosti quotes the content of the report on Sunday, August 29.
In addition, at the moment, the Arktika-M number 1 device is being tested.
Earlier, on August 22, the press service of Roscosmos reported that the next batch of 34 British OneWeb communication satellites was successfully put into orbit. Thus, in total, there are 288 British spacecraft in orbit.
Earlier on Sunday, the Soyuz-2.1 b carrier rocket with 34 British OneWeb satellites launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome. The live broadcast of the launch was conducted on the Roscosmos website.
About nine minutes later, the Fregat upper stage, in conjunction with the spacecraft, successfully separated from the third stage of the rocket.
According to the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, the Soyuz rocket worked normally during the launch from the Baikonur cosmodrome.
