Industrial production of combat robotic complexes has been launched, the head of the Defense Ministry noted
KUBINKA /Moscow region/, August 26. /TASS/. The military will use combat robotic complexes in the strategic exercises "West-2021" in September, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told reporters at the international forum "Army-2021".
"Sapper robots - this was the very beginning, at the same time, combat and shock robots were developed in parallel. And I think that at the Zapad-2021 exercises, of course, you will see [them] not one or two. This is already an industrial production, it is already dozens of combat strike robots, their weapons operate at distances of up to five km, " Shoigu said on the Zvezda TV channel.
According to the minister, thanks to the work of the forum, it was possible to completely eliminate the problems with weapons and equipment identified during the operation in Syria. In particular, the issue of the height and range of flight of army aviation, which fell into the zone of operation of portable anti-aircraft missile systems, was resolved.
"The following questions are questions related to unmanned aerial vehicles. When we started the campaign in Syria, we had sometimes difficult situations, because we needed attack drones, today we can say that we have them, and this is a very good and very worthy experience, " Shoigu added.
