KUBINKA /Moscow region/, August 25. /TASS/. A mobile radar station "Laguna-I", which will be able to monitor the coastal zone of the state and determine the coordinates of ships in distress, is being created in Russia. This was reported to journalists on Wednesday in the press service of the NPK NIIDAR.

They clarified that the over-the-horizon surface wave radar of the coastal surveillance service "Laguna-I" is being created taking into account the specifics of the Asia-Pacific region.

"The station will be able to ensure the safety of gas and oil developments on the shelf, the safety of logistics of sea cargo. And it can also be used to control fishing, track the movement of unregistered water transport. In addition, the Laguna-I radar will be able to determine the coordinates of ships in distress in real time for the prompt rescue of the ship and crew, " the press service quotes the words of the Director General of NIIDAR Yuri Anoshko.

The development of the Laguna-I radar is carried out using lightweight antenna modules of a new design, which allows the station to be deployed on unprepared sites, including those not equipped with a foundation. The station also has a high degree of climatic protection of the equipment, which ensures its operation in conditions of constant high humidity.

Laguna-I will be able to provide continuous round-the-clock and all-weather monitoring of the sea area of the 200-mile economic zone, regardless of meteorological conditions. In addition, it will be able to simultaneously monitor more than 200 different surface objects and transmit information about them in real time.

The International military-technical Forum "Army-2021" is held in the Patriot Shopping Center from August 22 to 28.
