MOSCOW, August 24. /TASS/. The construction of multi-purpose nuclear submarines of the Yasen project 885 will continue, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov told reporters on the sidelines of the second stage of the pre-election congress of United Russia.
"Of course, they will, but what about us without them," Borisov said, answering the corresponding question.
The nuclear submarines of the project 885 and 885M "Yasen" and "Yasen-M" were developed by the St. Petersburg Marine Engineering Bureau "Malachit". Currently, Sevmash has seven such submarines at various stages of construction. The lead submarine of the project 885M "Kazan" was transferred to the Russian Navy on May 7. The main attack weapons of submarines of the 885/885M projects are Kalibr - PL and Onyx cruise missiles.
