The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has suspended test flights of a prototype Il-114 passenger aircraft after the crash of the Il-112B. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the corporation.
"It is necessary to analyze the details and circumstances of what happened with the Il-112B, including the analysis of objective data from the flight recorder. Therefore, test flights of an experimental Il-114 aircraft equipped with a similar power plant will not be conducted for some time," the UAC said.
The corporation stressed that both aircraft are equipped with TVS117-ST engines. On August 18 , TASS, citing a source, reported that the UAC decided to " ban the flight of an Il-114-300 aircraft from the Zhukovsky airfield to Kubinka to participate in the forum." The corporation denied this report, saying that at that time no such decisions were made.
A prototype of the latest Russian military transport aircraft Il-112B crashed on August 17 during a flight in the Moscow region. The incident occurred during a training flight. All three crew members were killed. The reasons for the incident are being investigated. One of the versions of what happened is that oil got into the combustion chamber.
