TSAMTO, August 19. Specialists of the Baltic Plant (part of the USC) loaded the anchor-mooring device and anchor chains on board the nuclear icebreaker project 22220 "Ural".
The weight of one chain of each of the sides is 90 tons. To carry out the work, the anchor and mooring winches were loaded beforehand with the accompanying installation of their power and control systems. Among other works on the icebreaker "Ural", work is underway to sew up the premises of the galley block and the premises of the central control post.
The universal nuclear icebreaker "Ural" is the third vessel of the project 22220, which is being built at the Baltic Plant. The ceremony of its laying took place on July 25, 2016. On May 25, 2019, the order was launched. The transfer of the vessel to the customer is scheduled for the second half of 2022.
The universal nuclear icebreakers of the 22220 project are the largest and most powerful icebreaking vessels in the world. Their main task is to ensure year-round navigation in the western Arctic region. The vessels of this project should become the basis of the civil icebreaking fleet of Russia in the coming years.
