Two Russian Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers performed a planned flight over the neutral waters of the Sea of Japan. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that the duration of their raid was about nine hours. On the route, long-range aircraft were accompanied by Su-35S fighters of the Air Force and Air Defense Association of the Eastern Military District.
The ministry stressed that the crews of strategic missile carriers regularly patrol the airspace over the neutral waters of the Arctic, the North Atlantic, the Pacific Ocean, the Black and Baltic Seas. "All flights of aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces are carried out in strict accordance with the international rules for the use of airspace," the Russian Defense Ministry noted.
The Tu-95MS strategic bomber has long been registered in the Russian and world skies. For its impressive size - the wingspan of the Tupolev is more than 50 meters - and powerful weapons in the West it is called "Bear-bear". The Tu-95MS is designed to defeat the most important enemy targets in remote areas and in the deep rear of continental theaters of military operations.
