A large-scale tactical exercise of the marines of two fleets - the Baltic and Northern Fleets-has started on the sea coast of the Kaliningrad region.
According to the information support department of the press service of the Baltic Fleet, more than two thousand servicemen and more than a hundred units of military and special equipment, including BTR - 82A, BTR-80 armored personnel carriers, self-propelled artillery installations, are involved in the planned exercise.
The exercise will last until the end of the week and will take place in conditions as close to combat as possible. The marines will have to make a march from the places of permanent deployment, then they will load on large landing ships and landing boats and pass by sea to the landing area.
Then the sailors will have to capture the coast occupied by the sabotage groups of the imaginary enemy, and free the infrastructure facilities on the shore.
During the active phase of the exercise, episodes will be played to block and destroy a conditional enemy. To do this, the marines of the Northern Fleet will march to one of the training grounds in the Kaliningrad region.
