TSAMTO, August 16. The next research expedition to the Arctic seas of the hydrographic vessel of the Northern Fleet "Horizon" under the command of Captain Vitaly Khopryachkov has begun.
On the morning of August 14, the ship left the permanent base of Mishukovo in the Barents Sea.
During the expedition, hydrographers will conduct a complex of oceanographic studies in the waters of the Barents and Kara Seas.
The oceanographic group of the Arctic Oceanographic Expedition under the command of Captain Denis Bechtold, 3rd rank, will perform a survey of the bottom relief and hydrological measurements, under favorable weather conditions, will survey the coast of individual islands of the Arctic archipelagos to clarify the coastline.
Hydrographic vessels of the Northern Fleet regularly operate in the Arctic, solving the problems of navigation and hydrographic support for ships and vessels of the Russian Navy, refining and collecting data for updating nautical charts, the press service of the Northern Fleet reports.
