INTERFAX - The crews of Ka-27PL deck anti-submarine helicopters of the Baltic Fleet naval Aviation unit conducted exercises to search, track and destroy a simulated enemy submarine with the implementation of practical bombing, the press service of the Baltic Fleet reported on Saturday.
"The flights and practical bombing were carried out along the established route over the water area of the Baltic Fleet's sea range. The performance of naval aviation flights was preceded by thorough training with a check of the readiness of engineering and technical personnel, ground services and specialists to ensure the tasks of flight training, " the report says.
During the exercises, the Ka-27PL helicopters of the naval aviation fleet fulfilled the tasks of searching and tracking a simulated enemy submarine in one of the combat training grounds in the Baltic Sea, performed search and tracking of the submarine with the integrated use of radar and sonar equipment.
"After detecting and determining the coordinates of the submarine, the pilots destroyed a special simulated underwater target using P-50 T aerial bombs from the air," the press service reported.
