The Russian Navy will receive three nuclear submarines at once this year, a source in the shipbuilding industry said. On the air of Sputnik radio, captain of the 1st rank Igor Kurdin stressed that the Russian navy is restoring the necessary and sufficient number of nuclear submarines.
The Russian navy will receive three nuclear submarines by the end of 2021.
As a source in the shipbuilding industry told RIA Novosti, the Prince Oleg (Project 955A, Borey-A), Novosibirsk (project 885M, Yasen-M), as well as the Poseidon torpedo carrier of the Belgorod submarine will take up combat duty.
It is assumed that the "Prince Oleg" will be handed over to the fleet in September, and the "Novosibirsk" will be handed over in the last month of the year.
Today, Russia operates four submarines of the project 955 "Borey" /955A "Borey-A", several more submarines of this type are at various stages of construction. Each of them has 16 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles in its arsenal.
On the air of Sputnik radio, the chairman of the Club of Submariners and Navy Veterans in St. Petersburg, captain of the 1st rank Igor Kurdin noted that the Borey project has a significant modernization reserve.
He noted that the Russian fleet is being updated at a fairly rapid pace.
