The cause of the crash of the Su-35 aircraft in the Sakhalin region was an engine failure. On Saturday, July 31, the press service of the Eastern Military District (VVO) reports.
"On July 31, 2021, an engine failure occurred on a Su-35S aircraft in the Khabarovsk Territory during scheduled training flights. The pilot ejected, was quickly discovered by a search team and taken to the home airfield. There is no threat to the pilot's health, " the report says.
According to Izvestia, the crashed plane belongs to the 23rd Fighter Aviation Regiment. The regiment itself is based at the Dzemgi airfield in the Khabarovsk Territory. Four vehicles of this regiment are on rotation duty at the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk airfield.
It is noted that the board performed a training flight, this is the first loss of the Su-35. At the moment, the details of the incident are being clarified.
The Su-35 plane crashed in the Sakhalin region earlier in the day. The aircraft fell 50 km from the urban-type settlement of Smirnykh. No damage or casualties were reported.
