T-72B with enhanced protection were seen during a combat readiness check in Uzbekistan. According to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of this Central Asian state, the defense measures carried out determined the readiness of personnel and military equipment for high-quality performance of combat training tasks.
Among the samples of tanks involved in the exercises, there were modernized "seventy-second".
The creation of such a modification became known in January 2020, when an exhibition dedicated to the Defender of the Fatherland Day was held in Tashkent. Then, for the first time, one of the T-72B was demonstrated, which received a built-in dynamic protection that covers the front part of the turret from various ammunition.
On the frontal part of the body there was a hinged "reactive armor". The shape of the overhead shelves was changed. At the stern, the installation of lattice anti-accumulation screens was provided. Also, a special dust-proof apron, necessary in desert conditions, has appeared.
The previously shown sample had new tracks, but the tanks went to the exercises with the same tracks.
Also, the T-62M that passed the Afghan epic in the 80s and equipped with the "Contact-1" T-62MV were involved in checking the combat readiness of the troops. Similar tanks were recently presented at a parade in Dushanbe.
