As part of the first stage of work, the PGZ-Miecznik consortium will analyze three projects from foreign partners (Great Britain, Spain and Germany). At the end of this year or the beginning of next year, the optimal variant of the ship for the Polish Navy will be selected. The first of the frigates of the Miecznik project is planned to be launched by 2025.
Now the Polish Navy has two frigates of the Oliver Hazard Perry type, received from the United States in 2000 and 2002. The new ships should replace the American frigates.
