In the future, attack drones, as well as the latest helicopters, can be equipped with a complex of guided missiles "Vortex-1". This was reported in the concern - manufacturer of weapons.
"At the moment, Kalashnikov specialists are considering the possibility of adapting the Vortex for use on the latest MI-28NE, MI-35P helicopters, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles of the Orion-E type, "the press service of the concern informed.
They recalled that initially the "Whirlwind-1" missile was created and its state tests were carried out for use as part of the armament of the Ka-50 "Black Shark"helicopters. But in 2018, special flight tests of the "Vortex" were completed on Ka-52 "Alligator" helicopters. In April of this year, the concern reported on the early implementation of the state contract for the supply of such missiles to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
According to Kalashnikov, the "Vortex", designed to destroy ground-based armored and low-flying air objects, is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 10 kilometers. The rocket reaches a speed of more than 600 meters per second. And its tandem cumulative warhead penetrates 750 millimeters of homogeneous armor behind dynamic protection.
