INTERFAX-The crews of Su-25SM attack aircraft of the joint Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan will be involved in the Russian-Uzbek exercise, which will be held from July 30 to August 10 in the Surkhandarya region of the republic, the press service of the Central Military District (CVO) reported on Thursday.
"A link of Su-25SM attack aircraft will be involved. The practical actions of the exercise will be held at the Termez training ground in the area bordering Afghanistan, " the report says.
It is noted that during the exercise, Russian attack aircraft will provide air support to a joint group of troops working out combat training tasks to ensure the territorial integrity of the states of the Central Asian region. In addition, the crews of the Su-25SM will perform tasks to search for and destroy disguised bases of a simulated enemy and will work out techniques for escaping from the blows of portable anti-aircraft missile systems.
Earlier it was reported that about 1.5 thousand servicemen of the armed forces of Russia and Uzbekistan will take part in the joint exercise of the servicemen of the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan at the Termez training ground, and about 200 units of military equipment, including aviation, will also be involved.
Within the framework of the exercise, the military personnel of the joint group of troops will work out issues of ensuring the territorial integrity of the states of the Central Asian region. The basis of the Russian contingent will be the military personnel of the peacekeeping unit and the special purpose brigade of the Central Military District.
The United States and its allies must withdraw their troops from Afghanistan by September 11 this year. The withdrawal of troops takes place against the background of the activation of the Taliban movement in Afghanistan (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation).
