The lead nuclear submarine of the project 627 K-3 "Leninsky Komsomol" is preparing for the transition from Snezhnegorsk, Murmansk region, to Kronstadt, where it will become an exhibit of the Museum of Naval Glory. This was reported to TASS on Thursday by a source in the military-industrial complex.
"The first Soviet nuclear submarine K-3 "Leninsky Komsomol" is completing its museumification and is preparing to go to the transition from Snezhnegorsk to Kronstadt in the near future. There, the legendary ship will become a key exhibit in the Island of Forts-the museum of naval Glory," the agency interlocutor said.
According to him, the nuclear-powered vessel is fully prepared to perform tasks as a naval museum. Now the details of the inter-fleet transition are being worked out. He recalled that the development of documentation for the conversion of a nuclear submarine into a museum exhibit was carried out by SPMB "Malachite", where the project 627 was developed.
K-3 "Leninsky Komsomol" is the first Soviet and the third nuclear submarine in the world, the lead ship of Project 627 "Kit".
