Zhukovsky (Moscow region). July 22. INTERFAX-The program for the creation of enlarged air traffic management centers (ATM) in Russia will be completed next year, said Dmitry Savitsky, Deputy General director for products for the air navigation system and dual-use products of the Almaz-Antey concern of East Kazakhstan Region.
"To date, 10 centers out of 12 have been created. The tenth was Yakut. We expect that next year we will complete this large program, " Savitsky told Interfax at the MAKS-2021 air show in Zhukovsky, near Moscow.
Speaking about the difficulties in working on the Yakut junction, he noted that there is "a very complex territory, so it could not be created immediately."
"Now the St. Petersburg center is being created, which is also very large and very specific, it will control aircraft up to the North Pole. Arkhangelsk, Syktyvkar, Kotlas, Murmansk - all this will be included in the enlarged St. Petersburg center. We hope to pass it this year, " Savitsky said.
"And the" extreme "center will remain," he continued, this is Rostov-on-Don. An import system was installed there quite a long time ago, even when we did not create such systems, or, let's say, we did not have enough experience. And now the Rostov system is developing a resource. It will be replaced next year. Thus, we will complete a large program."
Savitsky noted that at the beginning of the 2000s there were 118 regional ATM centers in Russia.
"They had to be united, because there were problems, including of a technical nature - the equipment was getting old, it was necessary to make other decisions, and in general, the whole world was moving towards the consolidation of c6ntrs," the agency interlocutor said.
In the United States, he said, there are 20 enlarged centers.
"We will have 12, but we still have three so-called special centers. Although they are considered not enlarged, they are absolutely identical in their functionality, tasks, and equipment used to the enlarged centers with a smaller composition of workplaces. These are centers in Kaliningrad, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and in the Crimea - a special center was created here in 2014, " Savitsky said.
He explained that the centers are called special because they have their own specifics, including interaction with the military department.
"This is one of the reasons why the concern was appointed the sole supplier: all air traffic control systems interact with the Air Force and air Defense. In particular, in order to ensure, let's say, a seamless airspace, including the transmission of information about violators and so on, these centers were created," Savitsky said.
