MOSCOW, July 21-RIA Novosti. Two Tu-160s performed a planned flight over the waters of the Barents and Norwegian Seas, at some stages they were accompanied by Norwegian F-16s, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
"Two Tu-160 strategic missile carriers of long-range aviation performed a planned flight in the airspace over the neutral waters of the Barents and Norwegian Seas. Fighter escort was provided by the crews of MiG-31 aircraft of the Air Force and Air Defense Association of the Northern Fleet. The duration of the flight was more than seven hours, " the report says.
It is noted that at some stages of the route, Russian strategic missile carriers were accompanied by F-16 fighters of the Norwegian Air Force.
It is emphasized that long-range aviation crews regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, the North Atlantic, the Black and Baltic Seas, as well as the Pacific Ocean - all flights of VKS aircraft are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.
