The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ordered American airlines to check about 2.5 thousand Boeing 737 aircraft for faulty differential pressure switches in the cabin. This was reported on Friday by the ABC TV company with reference to the order.
It is noted that such a malfunction can lead to a loss of performance by the crew due to lack of oxygen.
It is noted that the Boeing 737 is equipped with two differential pressure switches, so in case of failure of one of them, the backup one continues to function. If both relays are faulty, then at an altitude of more than 3 thousand meters, the warning system may not work, and the oxygen level in the cabin may fall to "dangerously low" values.
According to the TV channel, the airlines will be given 90 days to carry out inspections and replace the relays.
In October 2018, the airliner of this model of the Indonesian company Lion Air crashed, all 189 people on board became victims. The plane crashed in Indonesia 13 minutes after departure from the airport. On March 10, 2019, the same Ethiopian Airlines aircraft crashed in Ethiopia a few minutes after takeoff. As a result of the disaster, 157 people were killed, including three Russians.
The management of the Boeing company admitted that in both cases there was a failure in the operation of the maneuverability performance improvement system. After that, several countries suspended the operation of airliners of this series for safety reasons.
Last November, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) The United States has given permission to resume the operation of these aircraft.
