It is almost 71%, the Russian Defense Minister noted
ROSTOV-ON-DON, July 14. /TASS/. The Russian armed forces have the highest percentage of modern weapons and military equipment among the armies of the world-almost 71%, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"Today, everyone - some with anger, some with approval-understands and states that the Russian army has more than 70%, or to be more precise, almost 71% of modern weapons and equipment. This is the highest percentage among all the armies in the world, "Shoigu said on Wednesday at a meeting with the staff of the Rostvertol company.
"If we talk about strategic nuclear forces," the minister noted, " the level of modernity is more than 80%. 83% are strategic nuclear forces, which form the basis of the nuclear deterrence system, our nuclear shield."
According to Shoigu, here we should speak with gratitude about Russian scientists, designers, "who managed to preserve their scientific potential in the timelessness, and much more in order to make the breakthrough that our president said in 2018 during his address to the Federal Assembly."
The Minister noted that over the past eight or nine years, it has been possible to radically change the situation in the armed forces, the attitude towards the army. "But the most important thing is, of course, arming, equipping, training and establishing the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation as one of the most modern armies in the world. And there is no doubt about this today. If nine years ago we were told that the next cans were taken to the parade, there is nothing in them, and there will be no sense from this, no one is talking about this today, " Shoigu stressed.
Number of pre-university educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense
The number of pre-university educational institutions in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has tripled since 2012, Shoigu said.
"In order for us to have a serious base for recruitment to military educational institutions, we had to pay serious attention to pre-university education. Therefore, during this time we have increased the number of pre-university educational institutions three times, " Shoigu said. "We built them at a rate of two per year."
The head of the military department noted that since 2012, two boarding schools for pupils of the Ministry of Defense have been opened. "We have done everything to train the daughters of officers from distant garrisons, our fallen comrades, there. We really wanted the children of our officers to have the same opportunities as everyone else, " he explained. "The daughters of our officers receive one of the best educations there - they have two foreign languages, four sports, and mandatory possession of musical instruments."
Shoigu also recalled that the department has built a new Nakhimov School for 800 places in Sevastopol.
