London. July 12. INTERFAX-Eight American F-16 Fighting Falcon multi-purpose fighters have arrived at the Graf-Ignatievo air Base in Bulgaria, the US Air Force Command in Europe announced on Monday.
The fighters, permanently based at the Aviano air Base in Italy, will take part in the Bulgarian-American Thracian Star 21 exercises, the report says.
During the exercises, the US and Bulgarian Air Forces will train "in rapid deployment in remote areas and the direction of effective forces to ensure stability in the region," the US military noted.
The US Air Force command stressed that " participation in multinational exercises, such as Thracian Star 21, strengthens professional relations and improves overall coordination with the armed forces of allies and partners during a crisis."
Currently, the American missile destroyer Ross is also located in the port of Varna. He is taking part in the Bulgarian-led naval exercise Breeze 2021, which will last until July 19.
