TSAMTO, July 8. MBDA Group announced the signing of several contracts for the modernization of air defense systems/ABOUT six destroyers of the Type-45 class of the British Navy.
As stated, during the work, for the first time, the Sea Septor air defense system with CAMM (Common Anti-air Modular Missile) anti-aircraft guided missiles will be placed on board the ships, integrated with the modernized Sea Viper combat control and Control System (C2).
According to the company, CAMM missiles will be used as a short-range air defense system and will complement the Aster-30 missile defense system, strengthening the air defense capabilities of the British Fleet.
Equipping ships of the Type-45 class with CAMM missiles will provide a 50% increase in the number of missiles on board. The launch will be carried out using 24 additional launch cells, and the equipment of the SBU "Si Viper" will be upgraded, which will significantly increase the computing power.
The 48-cell Silver vertical launch units installed on board the Type-45 will now be designed exclusively for the Aster-30 long-range missile defense systems, which must also undergo modernization in the middle of its service life. Thus, the Aster-30 missile defense system will remain in service throughout the entire service life of the destroyer.
Currently, the Sea Septor air defense system based on the CAMM missile defense system has been adopted by the Type-23 class frigates of the British Navy. It is planned to place them on board the Type-26 and Type-31 ships. The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom acquires CAMM missiles for both the Navy and the SV, which allows types of armed forces to receive missiles from a single arsenal.
