Rheinmetall grenade
Specialists of the German defense concern Rheinmetall have developed a compact pocket flash-bang grenade Spectac the size of a business card box. For the first time, this type of weapon was equipped with soldiers of the elite British special forces SAS in the 70s.
The main advantage of stun grenades is their non-lethal effect. When detonated, especially in close combat, they blind and deafen the enemy for about five seconds (the sound when detonated reaches 180 dB). Later, they were adopted by law enforcement agencies to prevent mass riots. However, they also have disadvantages: they are still an impressive cylinder, which makes them very noticeable. In addition, after the throw, rounded grenades bounce and roll uncontrollably, not reaching the target and creating a threat to others. According to the developers, the Spectac is devoid of these disadvantages due to its ergonomic rectangular design (it can be discreetly stored in a pocket or tactical vest), small size: 110 x 63 x 20 mm, and the weight is only 350 grams. When applied, it will no longer roll. It can also be used on stairs and set the detonation delay from half to one and a half seconds. The Spectac remains waterproof to a depth of 20 meters.
