The notorious American ARES aircraft received a "dome" similar to the famous droid from "Star Wars". Probably, we are talking about a satellite communication system.
ARES can rightfully be considered one of the most unusual aircraft of our time. The car began to look even more original, having received a device similar to the R2-D2 droid.
According to the publication The Drive, we can talk about a satellite communication system. ARES has a modular structure and has been equipped with various payloads for many years.

The aircraft created by Scaled Composites made its first flight back in 1990. Initially, it was created as a demonstrator of an attack aircraft. The vehicle could carry air — to-air missiles, unguided missiles, as well as a 25-millimeter cannon. Now, probably, the plane does not have any weapons. We built ARES in a single copy.

The attention of the public is also attracted by another development of Scaled Composites — the experimental winged machine Son of Ares.
