At a meeting in the Kremlin with graduates of military universities, Vladimir Putin said that among the new weapons systems are the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, the Zircon hypersonic ship missile, and the S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft systems.
The missile system with the RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile will become the most powerful strategic weapon of the first half of the XXI century. This complex will replace the R-36M Voevoda intercontinental ballistic missiles. It is also important that the latest missiles can be installed in the same mines in which the "Voivodes" are currently located.
The RS-28 rocket is distinguished by a much more powerful engine, which makes it possible to increase combat stability and combat efficiency. It also reduces the flight time to the target. The new missile system has practically no range restrictions. The Sarmat combat units will be able to fly to their targets through the North or South Pole. "Sarmat" can carry a wide range of high-power nuclear weapons. In terms of the number and power of warheads, it will surpass the Voivode.
It was reported that the RS-28 will be able to carry at least 10 blocks. The power of each warhead is at least 800 kt. Of particular interest is a variant of the RS-28 complex with a hypersonic maneuvering combat unit "Avangard". It is also important that the Sarmatov mine launchers will cover active protection complexes that can destroy even ultra-precise missiles with nuclear warheads. That is, this rocket will become truly invulnerable.
The Zircon is an anti-ship hypersonic missile capable of flying at a speed of over 10,000 km / h at a range of over 500 km. This missile can destroy all types of surface ships, including aircraft carriers. It is impossible to intercept it with air defense and even missile defense systems. Like the Sarmat, the latest missile can be placed in "Caliber" launchers, which will allow it to be put into service with ships and submarines without any problems.
The S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile system is generally unique, there are really no analogues in the world. It is mobile, capable of destroying all types of air targets, as well as spacecraft in orbits up to 200 km. Experts suggest that the S-500 was created specifically to repel the attacks of the American miracle weapon X-37B. This device, capable of carrying nuclear weapons on board, can hang in low-Earth orbit for years. At hour "X", it drops below 200 kilometers and launches its warheads. But they will already be in the sights of Prometheus and are guaranteed to be eliminated.
So Russia will receive the most powerful offensive and defensive weapons systems this year.
