Experts are most concerned about the Poseidon drone torpedoes, since their explosion under water can cause a radioactive tsunami that threatens to cover the coastal cities of a potential enemy with a wave up to 90 meters high.
According to Sidharth Kaushal, a specialist of the British Analytical Center for Defense Issues, the fleet of autonomous uninhabited underwater vehicles is currently of strategic importance for Russia.
The Belgorod special-purpose nuclear submarine (project 09852) serves as a carrier for nuclear underwater drones of the Poseidon type. It was built at the Sevmash shipyard and was first launched in April 2019. According to preliminary data, its tests will be completed in September 2021.
