In Britain, they are afraid of Russian weapons that can destroy an entire city

MOSCOW, June 27-RIA Novosti. The new Russian nuclear submarine K-329 "Belgorod" is capable of destroying not only an aircraft carrier, but even an entire city, British journalists told the Daily Mail.

Experts are most concerned about the Poseidon drone torpedoes, since their explosion under water can cause a radioactive tsunami that threatens to cover the coastal cities of a potential enemy with a wave up to 90 meters high.

"The vessel can carry up to six Poseidon nuclear torpedoes, each of which is capable of carrying warheads with an explosive power of two megatons," the journalists explained.

According to Sidharth Kaushal, a specialist of the British Analytical Center for Defense Issues, the fleet of autonomous uninhabited underwater vehicles is currently of strategic importance for Russia.

"The submarine has enough space to serve as a base for parking small vehicles that carry out deep-sea diving <...> it is well equipped for conducting sabotage and secret operations," he believes.

The Belgorod special-purpose nuclear submarine (project 09852) serves as a carrier for nuclear underwater drones of the Poseidon type. It was built at the Sevmash shipyard and was first launched in April 2019. According to preliminary data, its tests will be completed in September 2021.
