Rostec reported that the product is twice as superior to foreign analogues in terms of operating time, radiation strength and the degree of protection of the aircraft
MOSCOW, June 23. /TASS/. The new L376-2 "Yagel" trap cartridge for the protection of combat aircraft will be presented at the International Exhibition of Weapons and Military Equipment MILEX-2021 in Minsk. This was reported to journalists on Wednesday in the press service of the state Corporation "Rostec".
"The new trap cartridges, combined with advanced electronic warfare and tactical techniques, can significantly reduce the probability of hitting combat aircraft with both anti-aircraft and aircraft missiles with an optical guidance system, equipped with kinematic target selection. The product is twice as good as its foreign counterparts in terms of operating time, radiation strength and the degree of protection of the aircraft. A number of foreign partners have already shown interest in the development," the Rostec arms cluster said.
The cartridge was developed by specialists of JSC "FNPC" Research Institute of Applied Chemistry "of the holding "Technodinamika" of Rostec. "Yagel" is used at altitudes up to 20 thousand meters, at speeds up to 1,500 km/h. The product is twice as effective in protecting aircraft from weapons of destruction with an optical guidance system. The cartridge is designed in a caliber of 50 mm and can be used as part of various protective complexes.
As explained in the press service, when a threat is detected, the aircraft shoots off the trap cartridges, which disorient the guidance systems and lead the enemy's missiles to the side. "Yagel" is fired in the direction of movement of the aircraft, thanks to which it is able to deceive the" smart " enemy missile at the final stage of guidance. The pilot can release the traps one at a time or fire the entire ammunition in a salvo.
The 10th International Exhibition of Arms and Military Equipment MILEX-2021 started its work in Minsk on Wednesday. It is attended by more than 150 companies from Belarus, Russia, China, Turkey and Uzbekistan. It is expected that the exhibition, which will last until June 26, will be visited by more than 30 foreign delegations from about 20 countries.
