The Russian wheeled infantry fighting vehicle VPK-7829 on the "Boomerang" platform, shown at the MILEX 2021 military exhibition in Belarus, attracted the closest attention of military experts from the United States.
"This new Russian combat vehicle is the future of war," a detailed review of the armored vehicle was published under this heading in the American edition of The National Interest.
The observer noted that the "Boomerang" has an original layout of the engine compartment. The engine is located in front of the car, which made it possible to make a wide rear hatch for the quick exit of eight armed paratroopers and three crew members. In addition, the "Boomerang" has reinforced armor compared to its predecessors, comparable in efficiency to the tank. The vehicle is equipped with a remote-controlled turret from the Armata T-15 heavy infantry fighting vehicle. In it, the military can choose from a 30-mm cannon and anti-tank missiles "Attack" or "Cornet", or a 57-mm gun with a machine gun.
To control weapons and conduct targeted shooting, there is a two-plane weapon stabilizer, a multi-channel optoelectronic sighting system with a laser rangefinder. "Boomerang" is also equipped with an independent suspension, a diesel engine with a capacity of 750 hp, is able to overcome various obstacles and reach speeds of over 100 km/h. The power reserve is at least 800 km.
As the American observer emphasizes, the BMP can be used as a platform for any vehicles that are in service: engineering, sanitary, artillery, anti-aircraft and reconnaissance.
