TSAMTO, June 18. Military personnel of the special purpose unit of the Central Military District during a tactical flight exercise in the Novosibirsk region for the first time conducted a mass landing in the rear of a simulated enemy from 11 helicopters.
Mi-24 attack helicopters and Mi-8AMTSh transport and combat helicopters from the helicopter regiment based near Novosibirsk were involved in the practical actions.
The servicemen made a landing with the use of D-10 parachute systems from a height of 600 m, after which they gathered groups at the landing point and took up a circular defense. Next, each group made a 10-kilometer march to the area of the assigned tasks in order to prepare the personnel for the conditions of a real confrontation with the enemy.
The exercise, which takes place from June 16 to 18, involves more than 20 Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters, more than 30 units of ground military and special equipment, as well as about 500 people from the flight and engineering staff of the helicopter regiment, military personnel of the special purpose unit of the Central Military District, the press service of the district reports.
