At the main Iranian naval base in the port of Bandar Abbas, which is located in the Strait of Hormuz, a solemn ceremony was held for the inclusion of the light frigate Dena (tail number 75) and the minesweeper Shahin (tail number M111) in the Iranian Army Navy. The light frigate Dena, with a displacement of around 1,500 tons, is the fourth ship of the Mowj project built in Iran, after Jamaran, Damavand and Sahand. Since the construction of ships of this project has been fairly delayed since the 2000s (according to rumors, due to problems with the need for import substitution of individual components due to sanctions, etc.), the ships of this project are built with some noticeable differences from each other, while the main armament as a whole remains the same. Dena, like its predecessors, carries four Noor or Ghader missile launchers, two Mehrab anti-aircraft missile launchers, two three-tube 324-mm torpedo tubes, and a 76-mm Fajr 27 artillery launcher. In addition, the ship is equipped with light 23-mm artillery pieces and a 40-mm Fath artillery piece.
According to tradition, the name of the new light frigate comes from the name of the mountains, the ship is named after the Dena mountain range, located in the Zagros mountain system.
However, perhaps more important for the Iranian navy is the commissioning of the minesweeper Shahin-the first of a series of new minesweepers under construction with a hull made of composite materials, which first lit up in May 2020 during the visit of the Iranian Defense Minister to the shipyard in Bandar Abbas.
