What the electronic periscope of a strategic submarine shows, why the diesel generator also works very quietly on one of the world's lowest-noise submarines, and what the missile deck of the Prince Vladimir looks like - all this was seen and shown to the Zvezda film crew. Journalists of the official TV channel of the Ministry of Defense were not just allowed on board the newest submarine "Prince Vladimir", but also took on a campaign.
Of course, the submariners did not reveal all the secrets, but they told a lot of interesting things. For example, that the "Prince Vladimir" was one of three strategic missile carriers that effectively surfaced in the spring through the ice in the Arctic. The other of the three was the Tula submarine-it rose first and guided the other ships.
The first boat of the improved project "Borey-A" is equipped with an electronic periscope-the image from the camera placed behind the hull is transmitted to the central post. There are a lot of other improvements.
For example, the submarine's diesel generator-it works when the nuclear power plant is not involved-is very quiet. Next to the running unit, you can talk without raising your voice. Usually, in working marine diesels, it is only possible to shout over each other. Or correspond.
- When creating this ship, many plans were implemented to reduce physical fields - first of all, noise. New equipment has been installed, thanks to which even a diesel generator with a capacity of several thousand kilowatts works quite silently, " said the commander of the submarine division Stepan Kelbas.
The TV camera also penetrated one of the most secret compartments of the submarine - the missile one. It is the largest on the ship-several tens of meters long-a ladder for movement is stretched between the huge cylinders, launch containers of Bulava ballistic missiles. Mine No. 7 has a red asterisk with the date and crew number-it means that the ICBM was launched from here.
- We have a new boat and the star is the only one so far. But obviously not the last one, " Kelbas said.
