The Ukrainian complex of protection of military transport aircraft of the An-26 type from guided missiles with infrared homing systems has passed state tests. According to Defense Express, it includes combined devices for the release of false thermal targets and an optoelectronic suppression station.
Modern systems of self-defense of aircraft from rocket fire are of different types. Some use infrared modulated emitters that throw off-course missiles with thermal guidance systems, others blind them with lasers, and still others throw out false thermal targets. More aggressive options are also being developed. For example, self-defense with interceptors, which is created by the US military, should shoot down missiles.
AN-26 is a Soviet turboprop transport aircraft. It is designed to carry cargo, but can also carry passengers at altitudes of up to 6000 meters. The wingspan of the aircraft is 29.2 meters, the length is 23.8 meters. It can reach a maximum speed of 540 kilometers per hour, and in cruising mode it flies 435 kilometers per hour. The Russian army also has AN-26, but they plan to replace them with IL-112B.
The Ukrainian complex for the protection of military transport aircraft of the An-26 type from guided missiles with infrared homing systems has successfully passed state tests at the Shiroky Lan test site in the Mykolaiv region. It was developed by the company "Adron". The self-defense system includes a combined device for the release of false targets KUV 26-50 and an optoelectronic suppression station KT-03V. KUV 26-50 are installed on the aircraft in containers, each of which holds 120 devices of caliber 26 and 60 millimeters. The aircraft can carry four such containers. The developers say that the system can be used not only for the AN-26, but also for the AN-32 and AN-178 .
Self-defense can be equipped not only with planes, but also with drones. Previously, we wrote about the development of such systems in Israel and the United States .Vasilisa Chernyavtseva
