In the central Pacific, an operational exercise of heterogeneous fleet forces in the far sea zone is being conducted. This was announced by the Russian Defense Ministry on June 10.
"In accordance with the training plan of the military command and control bodies of the forces (troops) The Pacific Fleet for 2021, in the central part of the Pacific Ocean, an operational exercise of heterogeneous fleet forces in the far sea zone is being conducted, " the Defense Ministry said.
The military department said that about 20 aircraft are involved in the operational exercise, including long-range anti-submarine aircraft Tu-142mz, high-altitude fighter-interceptors MiG-31BM and other aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
It is noted that within the framework of the exercise,"the tasks of managing a heterogeneous grouping of forces at a considerable distance from the base points for the protection and defense of sea (ocean) communications, as well as organizing the interaction of the operational grouping of ships and aircraft to search and track submarines and ship groupings of the imaginary enemy are being worked out."
The leadership is carried out by the Commander of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Sergey Avakyants.
Earlier, on June 9, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced his intention to hold a series of preparatory exercises preceding the joint exercises of Russia and Belarus "West-2021", which will be held from September 10 to 16. He noted that the Armed Forces have already passed sudden checks of combat readiness, and expressed bewilderment that these events "scared" the West.
In May, NATO launched the largest exercise since the end of the Cold War, Defender Europe 2021, which will last a month and will take place in close proximity to the Russian borders.
