The Western military District (ZVO) will be reinforced with hypersonic missile systems "Dagger", according to "Izvestia", citing sources in the Russian Defense Ministry.
"If necessary, these missiles will be able to keep under attack all deployed NATO groups in Europe," the newspaper writes.
The exact dates of receipt of "Daggers" in the ZVO are not reported. It is expected that "samples will arrive as production progresses."
"First of all, this is an operational and tactical weapon that changes or affects the situation in the region at specific points where it may be used," said military expert Vladislav Shurygin.
Military expert Viktor Murakhovsky recalled that when used with the MiG-31K interceptor fighter, the range of the Dagger is 2000 kilometers. "The munition can maneuver on the trajectory when performing a task and therefore its interception is extremely difficult," the expert said.
The newspaper reminds that at present "Daggers" are deployed only in the Southern Military District.
In may, the journal The National Interest called the five best Russian weapons at the Victory parade in Moscow on may 9: the family of "Armata" of the main battle tank T-14 and a heavy IFV T-15, an Intercontinental ballistic missile RS-24 "YARS", an unmanned ground combat vehicle "Uran-9", hypersonic missile "Dagger", installed on the modernized MiG-31K and the s-400 "Triumph".
