Rostec has announced the creation of a munition to protect armored vehicles from high-precision weapons, which creates a one and a half times denser blinding curtain compared to analogues.
As noted in the state corporation, state tests of the latest ammunition will be completed this year. The development should increase the survivability of armored vehicles on the battlefield.
The munition creates a combined curtain that "blinds" the enemy's high-precision weapons with laser, optical, thermal and radar guidance, it can be used in any climatic conditions.
On the air of Sputnik radio, military expert Alexey Leonkov spoke about the principle of operation of the latest ammunition.
"This ammunition was handled by Tsniitochmash. A 76-millimeter projectile creates a curtain of aerosol-dipole interference. Previously, there were special shells that, when detonated, sprayed a smoke screen, and this hid the visibility of personnel or armored vehicles for the likely enemy. It was quite difficult to be in the smoke. Now the guidance systems are becoming more advanced and even with such a veil can calculate the target. Especially if these targets are targeted by high-precision weapons that use second-or third-generation optoelectronic equipment. But the optical channel can be affected. It is precisely these aerosol-dipole interferences that create a certain distortion of the visible image, and therefore even high-precision weapons actually lose their target, " Alexey Leonkov said.
According to him, the latest system of protection of armored vehicles will be shown at the forum "Army-2021", which will be held on August 22-28.
"As for the effectiveness of our ammunition, it was announced that all the parameters will be known at the Army-2021 exhibition. But I know that the company Tsniitochmash developed such means of protection for reconnaissance vehicles, multiple launch rocket systems. I think all this will be shown at the exhibition, and more detailed information will be known, " the military expert added.
