Russia may have to postpone the unmanned Luna-25 mission to 2022. The latter is of particular importance for the country's space industry, as it should be the beginning of a large-scale program for the development of the Earth's satellite.
The possible postponement of the launch of the Luna-25 mission was announced by the General Director of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin. Previously, the device was planned to be launched on October 1, 2021, but now there are problems related to the supply of equipment.
October is still considered as the main start month, but the exact date will be determined in August. If the difficulties cannot be resolved, the launch will have to be postponed to May 2022.
The last spacecraft launched as part of the Soviet lunar program was the Luna-24 station. It launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome on August 9, 1976.
The launch of the "Luna-25" will be made from the East, using the Soyuz-2.1 b carrier rocket. Earlier it became known that the device is considered in the context of the implementation of the first stage of the creation of the Russian-Chinese station. The actual construction of the station is planned to begin in the second half of the decade.
