Moscow. June 3. INTERFAX - Calculations of mobile ground-based missile systems of the easternmost-Irkutsk missile compound have begun to carry out combat duty as part of the exercise that has begun in the Strategic Missile Forces, the Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
"During the exercise, strategic rocket scientists are working out the issues of launching missile systems on combat patrol routes, making a march to change field positions, their engineering equipment, organizing camouflage and combat protection," the report says.
In turn, anti-sabotage units perform tasks to detect, block and eliminate conditional saboteurs, including using unmanned aerial vehicles.
"The exercise involves about ten samples of advanced special equipment, including for engineering units, security and defense, radiation, chemical and biological protection," the press release says.
It clarifies that during the exercise, the strategic rocket scientists used modern samples of special engineering and reconnaissance equipment, such as the Typhoon-M combat anti-sabotage vehicle, the Foliage remote mine clearance vehicle, and the MIOM engineering support and camouflage vehicle.
In total, more than 2 thousand military personnel and about 200 pieces of equipment are involved in the exercise, the Defense Ministry informs.
Yars is a mobile and mine-based strategic missile system capable of hitting targets at a range of up to 11 thousand km. It is equipped with a split head part with maneuvering blocks of individual guidance. This complex is the basis of the Strategic Missile Forces grouping.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Strategic Missile Forces consist of three missile armies, 12 missile divisions, of which four - with silo launchers and eight - with mobile missile systems.
