TSAMTO, June 2. On June 1, at the Vympel shipyard in Rybinsk, a solemn ceremony of launching the latest naval transport of weapons "Gennady Dmitriev" project 20360M was held.
This is the largest vessel built in the entire history of the Vympel enterprise. On behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, the shipbuilders of the Vympel plant were congratulated by the head of the naval training service for the crews of the Navy support vessels of the Main Command of the Navy, Captain 1st Rank Anzor Dandamaev.
He conveyed to the Rybinsk shipbuilders the words of the commander-in-chief of the Navy that " the plant copes with the construction of a large-displacement vessel with honor, although previously small-tonnage vessels were built at the enterprise. This indicates the strong production potential of the Vimpel enterprise.
"The Main Command of the Navy is planning the serial construction of 20360M naval weapons transports. The operation of the main naval armament transport "Gennady Dmitriev" of the project 20360M, which is now launched, will allow further modernization and improvement of the transports of this project. Such vessels are necessary for the Navy, as they are able to solve problems in the far sea and ocean zones, including in the Arctic zone, because they have an ice class of the hull, " the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, said in his speech at the event, Captain of the 1st rank Anzor Dandamaev.
The launch ceremony was also attended by Yevgeny Norenko, General Director of the Vympel enterprise, representatives of the government of the Yaroslavl region, and the administration of Rybinsk.
During the solemn ceremony, the rite of consecration of the ship was traditionally served by the rector of the Ascension-St. George Church, Archpriest Pavel Kravchenko. The godmother of the ship-an employee of one of the departments of the Vympel shipyard, Alyona Burova, broke a bottle of champagne on the steel side of the ship.
