Sevmash was originally built to create ships that should serve in the northern latitudes. Over the years, the company has transferred about 30 diesel and 110 nuclear submarines to the Northern Fleet. Among them-the legendary first Russian nuclear submarine K-3 "Leninsky Komsomol", ships-record holders in speed, displacement, depth of immersion. Today, the company is strengthening the northern borders with nuclear submarines of the 4th generation of the Borey-A and Yasen-M projects. On May 7, the flag was hoisted on the Kazan submarine at Sevmash. Now at the enterprise at different stages of construction there are 7 more missile carriers of this project, ships of the Borey-A project are being built.
As the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Nikolay Evmenov noted, in the short term, the submarine forces of the Northern Fleet will be replenished with the latest multi-purpose submarines "Yasen-M", strategic missile submarines of the project "Borey-A", which will support the grouping of naval strategic nuclear forces in the North in accordance with the challenges of the current situation in the World Ocean, the press service of JSC "PO "Sevmash"said.
