TSAMTO, May 27. Since the beginning of the year, the troops of the Western Military District (ZVO) have received about 300 units of military and special equipment under the state defense order, said the commander of the troops of the ZVO, Colonel-General Alexander Zhuravlev.
"Since the beginning of the year, 289 units of modern models of VIVT have been received by the district troops, including 20 modernized BMP-2s for re-equipping motorized rifle units of the tank army stationed in the Moscow region. Aviation units of the Leningrad Army Air Force and Air Defense received seven upgraded aircraft (including tactical reconnaissance aircraft Su-24MR, transport An-72 and An-12), as well as the radar station" Nebo-U " – said A. All the equipment will be used in the joint strategic exercise "West-2021", the main stage of which will be held in September at the training ground located in the Nizhny Novgorod region. In total, by the end of the year, the ZVO is expected to receive more than 2 thousand modern weapons and military equipment, the press service of the district reports.
