The nuclear submarine of the Northern Fleet "Pskov" has a unique arsenal - the largest per unit volume among submarines.
"The Titanium ship is one of the best, I think. Although he served on others. The size of the ammunition will not say, but here is almost a record amount of it per unit volume. The ship is capable of firing torpedo, missile and mine weapons, " the submarine's commander, Maxim Strelnikov, told Zvezda.
The torpedo tubes are hidden in the bow of the ship behind the breakwater shields.
- There are four shields, but there are more torpedo tubes,-said Alexey Saschuk, deputy commander of the 7th Submarine Division for military and political work.
The Tomsk submarine is a rare ship in itself. This is one of two representatives of the project 945A "Condor", built in the early 90s. Large nuclear submarines of the third generation with cruise missiles are designed to track strategic submarines and aircraft carrier groups of the enemy and ensure their destruction at the beginning of the conflict. Thanks to the titanium hull and other technologies, the boats of the 945th project became the most inconspicuous in the Soviet Navy. Both ships serve in the Northern Fleet.
According to open sources, "Pskov" is armed with six torpedo tubes of 533 mm caliber with ammunition up to 40 torpedoes and rocket-torpedoes "Waterfall", cruise missiles "Granat", as well as sea mines. The entire arsenal of the boat shoots through the torpedo tubes. Especially noteworthy is the work of "Waterfall". This weapon is two-medium: starting under water, the rocket-torpedo comes to the surface, takes off and then rushes to the target through the air.
