Moscow. May 21. INTERFAX-Mass production of combat robots with artificial intelligence has been launched in the Russian Federation, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"The mass production of combat robots has begun. There are no longer just experimental samples, but robots that can really be shown in science fiction films when he is able to fight on his own, " Shoigu said on Friday, speaking at the New Knowledge marathon.
He also reported on the great work on the latest weapons, the weapons of "tomorrow".
"I can't avoid what is called the weapon of tomorrow. There is also a lot of work going on here, " the minister said.
At the moment, it is known about several combat robots developed for the Russian army. Among them are the Uran-6 minesweeper robot, the Uran-9, Nerekhta, Soratnik, Platform-M, and Argo combat robots.
"Soratnik" is a development of the Kalashnikov concern. It can be used as a vehicle for fire support, reconnaissance, supply of ammunition and fuel, and evacuation of the wounded.
With a weight of up to 7 tons, it can reach speeds of up to 40 km/h. With remote control and direct radio visibility, the range of the machine is up to 10 km.
The robot's combat module provides for the installation of various types of weapons, in particular, 7.62 and 12.7 mm machine guns, a 30-mm AG-17A grenade launcher and a 40-mm automatic grenade launcher.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Uran-6 and Uran-9 robots were used during the Russian military operation in Syria.
