The flagship of the Northern Fleet-the heavy nuclear missile cruiser "Peter the Great" went to the Barents Sea to practice the tasks of interspecific exercises in cooperation with the ships of the protection of the water area of the Kola Flotilla of heterogeneous forces, submarines, anti-submarine, bomber and fighter aircraft of the Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the fleet.
During the exercise, which is conducted under the leadership of the Deputy commander of the fleet, Vice Admiral Oleg Golubev, the tasks of deploying surface and submarine forces of the fleet at sea, mine support and mine setting, searching for submarines of a simulated enemy, repelling an air attack, conducting an artillery battle with a simulated surface ship, attacking a submarine, as well as individual elements of electronic warfare during combat operations at sea will be worked out.
The exercise will also include artillery and anti-aircraft missile firing and anti-submarine warfare.
The exercise will take place in the training grounds of the Northern Fleet in the near sea zone. The areas where military exercises with weapons will be carried out will be temporarily closed to navigation and aviation flights, the press service of the SF reported.
