Off the coast of the Kaliningrad Region, the Baltic Fleet's naval minesweeping group conducted exercises.
The naval minesweeper Alexander Obukhov, the base minesweeper Leonid Sobolev, and the raid minesweeper Leonid Perepech took part in the maneuvers. The crews were ordered to defuse the mines placed by the imaginary enemy.
In accordance with the plan of the exercise, the minesweepers of the connection of ships protecting the water area of the naval base in Baltiysk quickly left the base point and made the transition to the specified square.
In the course of conducting a joint search and trawling, "Alexander Obukhov", "Leonid Sobolev" and "Leonid Perepech" successfully discovered and destroyed 20 of the 20 training mines that the "enemy" – the small anti-submarine ship "Aleksin" - had placed in the sea ranges.
At the final stage of the exercise, the minesweepers hit mock-ups of floating mines with the fire of their small-caliber artillery, and also worked out tasks for radiation, chemical and biological protection, Captain Roman Martov, head of the information support department of the press service of the Western Military District for the Baltic Fleet, told the Military-Industrial Courier.
